Psalms 30:5 …Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

“If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.” ~C. S. Lewis

What is hurt?
For a child of God, hurt is a divine ordained growth factor that helps him or her to focus fully on God and not on others because God is not evil and will never hurt. A bold truth indeed and is quite contradictory to the opinion of the world who see God as the major reason behind all hurts and sufferings.

If we carefully see, God will never, never hurt you. It is only when we miss the target, we end up being hurt. But this axiom of “God is good all the time” holds well only when we deliberately shift focus on God. At times, we may find in spite of being focused we may end up in hurts, this is because; God uses the deliberate hurt from others as a moulding weapon to achieve his purpose. God wants to take full glory as He always deserves it when he moulds to finish His purpose in us.

So when we are good to others and when time comes to show their acknowledgement of our benefit to them, and especially when we are waiting to be appreciated but are shocked by our dear ones who instead of praising and loving us for our kindness but treat us in a ‘taken for granted manner, we are terribly hurt. In worst case, it can happen that they will deliberately push us out after receiving all the benefits from us. In such cases, we should understand that the Lord has orchestrated an even in our life to show us that He is the only source of comfort and wants us to realise the omnipotent availability of Him in all circumstances.

Sometimes, the same people who acknowledged us for our efforts in their work may say that we were lifted partly because of their efforts when in reality God lifted us. So Lord in His divine wisdom and foreknowledge of the eternity moulds our life to allow such hurts, the purpose for which is elusive right now but is always glorious in the end for our good.

Further, hurts can result from temptation or disappointment from anticipated good by virtue of efforts rendered towards it.

So how do we conquer hurts?
Hurting people hurt others and thereby start a vicious cycle of hatred and pain. No sooner, you are hurt, deliberate choose to forgive and love, when you do this you immediately end an otherwise deadly cycle. Remember, we owe Jesus more than all the total of all the hurts rendered by all the people for all of our life time. This is a fact that we often forget or at least show selective amnesia of Lord’s goodness in our life. Constantly recollect the goodness of God and start counting your blessings and you will realise that the pain of hurt is being replace by peals of joy filled with thankfulness to the glory and praise of God.
